The program is part the of the Community Involvement program from Gran Meliá Jakarta and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Sampoerna Foundation. The Guests stay in the hotel will be able to contribute US$1 upon their check-out, or they could give the donation directly to the donation box at the reception desk. The fund that will be raised during the three months program will be used to improve and develop the education for Indonesian children through scholarship.

The program was also supported by one of the famous painter in Indonesia Mr. Suprobo, who exhibits his paintings during one week period, and some of the proceeds of the paintings sold will be donated to support the education of Indonesian children through Sampoerna Foundation.

Wheelchair Donation for a Child with Different Abilities

The wheelchair will be used by Ryan to replace the old and broken he had been using. Inauguration of Physiotherapy Center of YPAC
(Disabled Children’s Education Foundation) by Gran Meliá Jakarta
Gran Meliá Jakarta has inaugurated physiotherapy center of Yayasan Pembinaan Anak Cacat / YPAC (Disabled Children’s Education Foundation). Gran Meliá Jakarta helped the renovation of the physiotherapy room and furnished new medical equipments for the disabled children. This is the second project that has spent more than Rp.120 million, done by Community Involvement of Gran Meliá Jakarta in allocating US$ 24,000 award from Sol Meliá Head Quarter in Spain after winning “Best Community Involvement Management” achievement in 2004. Mr. Daniel Lozano, General Manager of Gran Meliá Jakarta, Ms. Hana Hoed , Public Relations Manager and Community Involvement, and Mrs. Renny Suparyanto, Chairwoman of the Disabled Children’s Eduation Foundation, and Mrs. Ari Hendratmo, the Head of Medical Department officiated the inauguration.

Blood Donation at Gran Meliá Jakarta
As regular client of Indonesian Red Cross, Gran Meliá Jakarta and Indonesian Red Cross have collaborated in conducting Blood Donation, today, at Gran Meliá Jakarta. The activity that is also part of the Community Involvement Projects is held in a three-month basis in order to provide Indonesian Red Cross’ blood supply and keep the employees healthy.

Employees of Gran Meliá Jakarta have participated the Blood Donation and thirty six bags of blood have been collected from the less than three hours activity.

Gran Meliá Jakarta has officially opened a health clinic for 550 Jakarta-area orphans and local residents at the Khazanah Kebajikan Foundation in Pondok Cabe, South Jakarta. Gran Meliá Jakarta helped finish the clinic, which cost more than one hundred million rupiah, by donating part of the US$25,000 it received for its “Best Community Management Award” in the Community Involvement Program 2004 Awards held at the group’s international headquarters in Spain.
